Horse–Head Musician

Animal-headed characters have been the part of mythology for many cultures. The Gond craftsman has created this horse-headed musician in metal. This antique figurine enthrals the onlookers for its unique appeal and piques the interest.

With eleven million people, Gonds are the second largest tribe in Central India. The Gonds are also known as the Raj Gonds. The term was widely used in 1950s, but has now become almost obsolete because Gond Rajas don’t exist anymore. Through their works, the Gond artists seek to preserve the disappearing Gond environment and their longstanding heritage of tales and legends.
