Silver Open-end Kada

When Rabindranath Tagore wrote poem “Bangles, crystal bangles”, he must not have seen this amazing tribal silver bangles or kadas. Crafted artistically with engravings, these kadas are lightweight, and worn by the Meghwals and other tribes of Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The Meghwals are the vivacious tribe of northwest India. What makes them the fascinating and different from the other tribes is their amazing silver jewellery. The women of the tribe wear big nose pieces, and silver chokers and bands.  They claim to have descended from Rishi Megh — a saint who had the power to bring rain from the clouds through his prayers. Thus the word Meghwar! Megh means clouds.

Style tip: Your palazzo pants and kurti combination will look more stunning if you wear this kada.
